G.P. Maggini violin
Giovanni Paolo Maggini was said to be apprenticed to Gaspar da Salo and subsequently became the most famous of the Brecian instrument makers. From 1602 onward, G.P. made doubled purfled instruments of size both smaller and larger than current dimensions; arching was typically lower. His death in 1632 of the plague marked the end of the Brecian school!
